Who's behind this?

My name is Oli Wood and I work in IT in the UK. I've never been a member of a political party, I guess I identify as being left of centre and until now I've done nothing to try and change the country. In October 2020 I got too frustrated with the UK government and political system to sit on my hands so I made a document I could share that was an early draft of The Society Manifesto. In 2022 I finally got round to buying a domain name and building this little website.

This page so ugly‽

I'd like to think it's extremely clear and readable, but it is very plain on purpose. I'm no web designer, so I cribbed by styling code from this excellent article including CSS reset, so that I at least had a page that looked ok. I wanted a site that had almost no distractions and that was blazingly fast to load.

Are you collecting my data?

As little as possible. There are no analytics packages in this page (Google Analytics and the like) and it loads no JavaScript or content from other domains. I do get numbers of page loads and country level geography information because of how I host it, but that's it.

What can I do to help?

The source for the site is available, contributions welcomed by Pull Request.

Please don't. I'm a pretty private person and I don't want to talk about The Society Manifesto publicly on TV or whatever. By all means talk about it, you don't need me
